Logitech diNovo Edge Keyboard

This is on my wishlist! I want this keyboard for the livingroom when I eventually put a computer in there. Then I'll be able to surf, check email and watch movies while I lounge on the couch! I won't have to worry about trying to hook a mouse as the keyboard has a built in touchpad. And boy is it thin! It's bluetooth so it's wireless. It has a nice docking station that displays it as well as charging the battery. A 5 minute charge will get you two hours of typing while a full 2-4 hour charge will give you 2 months of banging at the keys! Stylish looks. I wouldn't want it for my main desktop system but for the couch potato in me...I'll take it!

Bose 3-2-1 Series II

So this is our new surround sound system to go with the new tv. From just two front speakers and an acoustimass module you get that "theatre like" surround sound. We liked the idea of saving some space by not having to deal with the back speakers or have to run cable back there as well. Setup was pretty straight forward so that was a big plus. It plays burned cd's, dvd's and even plays your mp3 discs. I would have to say the only downside to this unit would be the price. If you can swallow that...you'll enjoy it just like us! Check out the website.

Note: We bought this last week at Best Buy. I noticed in a Future Shop flyer that it was on sale this week. So back to Best Buy we went tonight. Got the sale price plus 10% more back for a total of $263.00. Well worth the trip in this bitterly cold weather (-27c)!!!

Samsung 40" LCD HDTV

Well we finally did it. We purchased a new flat panel television. We've been looking for a few years now and finally bit the bullet and just did it. We are extremely pleased with it. Of course we picked up a Shaw HDPVR with it as well. In the store we almost went for the 46" as it was also on sale but it had the same specs as the 40" and that meant a clearer picture on the smaller screen. I am so thankful we stuck to our guns as the 40" is plenty big enough for our small space. The store shelves can be quite deceiving when you look at different sizes. Make sure you do your homework if you are looking to buy one! Optimal viewing for a 40-42 is to be approximately 8 feet away.

Samsung 40" LCD
Full HD 1080p
120Hz
25000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio
Native Resolution 1920x1080
Response Time: 8ms

Enjoy all the latest in high definition technology. With 3 HDMI inputs, you can connect up to 3 different high definition devices. The PC input lets you connect your home computer and take advantage of the LNT 4071's large screen size, and with Wiselink USB 2.0 input it lets you connect devices like your digital camera and view your images on the big screen!

Good Morning Accident

Well it's another gorgeous day here in Edmonton. Meaning, it's a good day to stay in! When I looked out the window this morning there were Car "Toons" happening on the hill. It looks like it had just happened as within 10 minutes there were emergency vehicles on scene. They took one person away on a stretcher. Probably someone going too fast for the road conditions and no doubt has summer tires on!

It is supposed to drop in temperature all day. Edmonton is looking at -29c tomorrow. I am not looking forward to that!

In the pictures you can see how the snow coming down gets gradually worse. Yup...it's a good day to stay in!

4 out of 8 doesn't cut the mustard

For the second Poker Party in a row I came in 4th out of 8 that sat in. Talk about consistent. I would have preferred to be the last one standing tonight but that's just not how it went down. I had a few decent hands but would always lose to a better one. I think I basically only won one hand. I better sharpen my strategy up before the next big game...gotta get my poker face on!!!

We were playing Texas' Hold Em' and I should have known when to fold em'.

It's a tough life!

Squeegy is her name. Chillaxin' is her game.
Her resting position has moved from Red's shoulder to her computer desk lately. This cat is extremely photogenic and proudly poses when the camera gets pulled out.

The Moment Of Truth

I just watched a new game show on tv tonight. Before the show airs the contestant gets asked 50 questions while connected to a polygraph machine. Then when the show starts they have 21 questions out of the 50 to answer truthfully for half a million dollars. If they feel they lied during the test they can change their answer truthfully and get it right.

Well...who in their right mind would do this??? The guy I watched had his wife there and I wouldn't want to be in the car on the way home from THAT! One of the questions he answered yes to was "would your wife lose trust in you if she knew about something you did". Another one was, "have you put off having kids because you don't think your wife is going to be your lifelong partner?". He answered truthfully with YES. You can imagine the look on her face. *thud*

On a funnier note, the last guy answered truthfully by stating he HAS padded his underwear to look better. Check out The Moment of Truth. Would you do it for cash?

Vanna, I'd like to buy a vowel, an "I"...for "I" am pleading the 5th.

Show & Tell

I'm a huge Edmonton Oilers fan and was lucky enough to witness one of hockey's greatest players at a few games. Wayne Gretzky. A true ambassador to the game on and off the ice! Red and I are lucky enough to own not one but TWO of his rookie cards! We proudly display a replica version of his card on our computer desks. The real ones are in safe keeping. As of today the cards are worth approximately 500-700 dollars.

Note: A mint rated Gretzky card went for a whooping $80000! Check it out here.

Superbowl XLII

So it's the New York Giants that will be trying to slay Goliath in the Super Bowl. Goliath being the New England Patriots! I'm definitely looking for a Pat's win. I would love to see history in the making with a 19-0 winning record. Just insane when you really think about what that really entails.

Can't wait till Feb. 3rd and the big game!

PS: Good job at beating the Cheeseheads Eli.

Kitimat BC

My brother sent me pictures from his sledding adventure today. These mountains are about a 10 minute drive from his place! Makes me home sick when I see photos like these.

Started off a bit cloudy

Got clearer as the day went on.

Mummified trees!

We are now the proud owner of a second guitar for Guitar Hero!!! Woo Hoo!!! There's going to be some serious co-op play and face-offs in our future! There aren't any single guitars for sale yet so we had to buy the game bundle again. More money but when you just can't wait...you pay for it. We're pleased as punch!

Have Wii Gone Overboard?

Get a load of this stash seen at CES 2008. I guess there's going to be no shortage of Wii Accessories coming to a living room near you! That's of course, if we can actually get our hands on them in the stores. My guess is that there will be a shortage causing good people to pay unruly amounts of money on Ebay or the black market.

I'm glad I have two guns already...mind you...I am looking for a few more...but I can wait...for awhile anyway. Check out Cnet's article.

Photomosaic Puzzle

Here's a picture of the puzzle Red did today. It was a small one she got for Christmas from my Aunt. I helped start it and managed to put in a few pieces in between watching the football games.
Even though it was only a 300 piece puzzle it was different because it contained a whole bunch of tiny pictures of the movie. This was our first Mosaic puzzle. I think we've got a few more photo mosaics in the closet waiting to be done. Like a 1000 piece Homer Simpson one my brother sent us after they had completed it. That ones going to be tough. I think they spent quite some time completing that one!

Can You Say Lay Zee?

What a completely lazy day I've had. Helped Red do a puzzle, played a little Donkey Kong Country 3 and watched both NFL playoff games. Now we've got the Oilers game on. I suspect we'll pop in a movie after this is done. So it's official. This day was entirely dedicated to Lay Zee Ness. Heard of him?

Regarding the NFL games. Both visiting teams won some extremely entertaining games. Too bad my Seahawks didn't fare as well in their away game yesterday. I'm left with cheering for the New England Patriots. I would like to see some history in the making!

The Fat Lady Has Sung

Seattle Seahawks season is officially over. They lost 42-20 to the Green Bay Packers. We had a 14-0 lead on two fumbles at the very start of the game but we still couldn't win. Brett Favre had an amazing game that's all I can say...and my hats off to the team.

It was another interesting season for the Seahawks and I'm looking to a better start next year. For now, I'm pretty happy with getting two playoff games in.

I guess it's all about New England for me now. Go Tom Brady!!!

Waiting Patiently

Four hours to go until the Seattle Seahawks play the Green Bay Packers in a playoff showdown. I can't wait for it to start. It should be one heck of a game.

GO SEAHAWKS GO!!!

13 years, $124 million

Now that's what I call a jackpot!

Alex Ovechkin signed a $124 million, 13-year contract extension Thursday with the Washington Capitals. This is the first US$100 million deal in NHL history but not the longest. Rick Dipietro signed a 15 year deal with the New York Islanders.

Is it just me...or does it seem like our entertainers (movie stars, athletes) salary's have skyrocketed in the past decade while the general public's salaries grow at a snail's pace?

I need to go buy a 6/49 ticket.

Shuttle's $199 Linux PC

For all those Anti-Microsoft folks out there! Check CNET's article out.

Wii Endless Ocean

A new Wii game? What else is new. There seem to be tons of them. Endless Ocean a simulation game is due to launch Jan. 21st of this month. I think it's geared to the "non gamer" or the "relaxed gamer". It may actually be a fun one to pick up. Just think, you and a friend can connect online and go on an underwater adventure! What could be better than that? Ok, maybe you being a great white shark and your friend being the unsuspecting scuba diver may be good for a laugh also. *s* Check it out by clicking on the pic!

Useless Info

A galactic year, also known as a cosmic year, is the duration of time required for the solar system to orbit once around the center of the Milky Way Galaxy. Estimates of the length of one orbit range from 225 to 250 million earth years.

Whoa...that is one serious calendar!

Guitar Hero Portable Turntable Controller

Yet another Guitar Hero spinoff but this one has a twist. I'd have to give this little creation an A+ for sure! I wonder if I could get my toaster to rock it out???

Casino Night

Red and I went to Baccarat Casino tonight. We just went to put a twenty into the machine and see what happened. My twenty lasted about ten minutes while Red played for an hour before she was done. So I've got my "fix" for another few months. I enjoy it but I'm quite a tight wad when it comes to putting any kind of serious cash in there...which is a good thing. I couldn't help but wonder as I panned my eyes through the crowd how many were regulars to the establishment. Probably more than even I would guess.

While I was waiting for Red I sat and watched a guy play roulette. "He" was having a good night. They kept hitting his number and he kept pocketing the $25 chip they handed him along with three and a half stacks of chips. Nice haul buddy but I would suggest getting the hell outta dodge soon or them gangsta's will get it all back...one way or another.

CD Covers!

Ever have a damaged dvd movie cover that you wanted to replace? I've got just the website you need. It's called CDcovers and it's got pictures for practically anything. For example I just printed off two dvd covers for Wii Sports and Zelda's Crossbow Training as I was tired of the little cardboard holders they came in. Now if I can just find some white dvd cases!

When you get to the website just click on the drop down menu by "section" and you'll be able to choose what type of covers you're looking for. Than it's just a matter of searching alphabetically to find the one you need. There are covers and cd labels as well. Just save the pictures to your computer and you'll be on your way to making your collection look presentable again.

Seattle Seahawks played in the NFC Wild Card this afternoon and beat the Washington Redskins 35-14. The second half was crazy and I'm so glad it's over. My heart couldn't take any more of that! Back and forth, up and down. A great football finish. Now we're headed to Green Bay to play the Packers. Lots of history and a great match up for this one. It's going to be a tough one to win there but with a little luck...

Sick To My Stomach

I was watching Global News earlier tonight. Apparently four teens broke into a home and ran sacked the place but instead of leaving it at that they put the family cat in the microwave and killed it. I am so sick to my stomach...STILL. So sad and totally senseless. There is something really wrong with a person that could do such a thing. Like their DNA has a glitch or something.

Ying and Yang. Good and Bad. I know you can't have one without the other. It sure doesn't make me feel any better even though I know this exists on a huge scale. It's times like this that really scare me. Like I haven't a clue what our "minds" are actually capable of.

I don't usually pray but I think tonight, I'll say a little prayer for an innocent little tabby cat.

IGN: Best Of 2007

IGN.com is a website I visit often. I read reviews for games I would like to purchase for our Nintendo Wii. It's better than shelling out 60 bucks for a dud. I have yet to purchase a game that got a good review on their site and been disappointed.

Check out their "Best of 2007" in all kinds of categories which range from games, movies, gear and even comics. This is definitely worth a look!

DDR: The Best Medicine

We played Dance Dance Revolution on the Wii last night. We were both laughing so hard we had tears rolling down our faces! This game provides such a humbling experience for those of us that are not totally coordinated or in a great dance mode. I was enjoying myself watching Red burn up the dance floor to the song Disco Inferno. She looked like she had been drinking all night...her steps so clumsy. It totally made me laugh and then she started laughing and well...I'm surprised she made it through the song.

This game is a blast to play and you actually work up a bit of a sweat. Not bad for a video game! We only have one dance pad right now but you can hook up to four so you and your friends can battle it out together. Now that would be a great party!

55 Years!

Yesterday I went to Camrose with Red to celebrate her parent's 55th wedding anniversary. I don't even think I comprehend what that actually means. Red and I have made it to 20 years and that is just in no way comparable to theirs! When I realized it had been 20 years that we had spent our lives together it was a light bulb moment for me. I have lived with Red longer than I lived at home growing up. So when I look at a couple that are celebrating 55 years together...it truly is an amazing accomplishment. No wonder you hear stories that when one spouse passes it isn't long that the other one does. How could you not? Your soul would be half at best. I hope that I have the opportunity to celebrate a 55th with Red. Alot of things would have to "go right" that's for sure. And of course, we would have to keep from killing each other at times. *s* Wish us luck!

Ghost Squad

Today I'm here to review a new game we picked up for the Wii recently. Ghost Squad. This is my very first experience with a "rail shooter" type game. That means the user has limited control as to where you go on the screen. The game moves for you! Although you are not controlling your character to go where you want, you do have some choices along the way that manipulate "where" the game goes.

I am not a hard core gamer and especially for first person shooters. I find it too complicated to move and shoot or attack at the same time. Hence, I get frustrated because I die alot and don't progress through the levels. With this game that is not the case. All I need to focus on are the bad guys and to pull the trigger with some accuracy! Now I know some of you may think that would be boring but really it's not. This game has a huge fun factor in my opinion and is defiantly worth the money. We paid $34.99 at Future Shop and it wasn't even on sale.

We play the game using guns but you don't have to. Red likes the Wii Zapper and I use the Wii Light Gun. My gun gives you a slight disadvantage because the trigger is harder to pull and causes you to not be as quick. It gives you a score after each mission and I am always behind but I really don't care about those things. I love my gun and I love this game in party mode. Four friends shooting it up together or two players shooting it up double style...two guns that is!!!

I'm giving Ghost Squad for the Nintendo Wii a definite thumbs up!
