Masks

We all do it. Put one of our masks on to face the day, the week...the moment. I have many flavours of masks but today I am too tired to pull one out. Today I don't wear a mask.

Will you see me as you pass by on the crowded street? Will you see me from your car as we're stopped for a red light? Will you see me in line at the grocery store?

And if you do see me. Will you say anything...or just hold your mask tighter to your face?

Darkness

Today the darkness closes in on me.
I can feel it's coolness brush sharply across my face.
I struggle painfully with my clothing to give me warmth.
As I stand there, I can see my breath in the air in the little light that's left.
It won't be long now until there's nothing but blackness I think to myself.
I scan the darkness one last time.
I'm alone but I know it won't be for long.
He will be joining me soon.

Random Photos Take Two

This is what happens when a big rig makes a wrong turn and tries to back up in rush hour traffic. I wouldn't have even known this existed if it weren't for the many individuals leaning on their horns. No doubt, showing their displeasure of his expertise driving abilities. Ahh, you gotta love the city. *s*

Random Photos

Just some shots. Time to retire my old beat up hiking boots. I'm pretty sure they're over 10yrs old. They've been good to me and I think I got my money's worth out of them. The streets of Edmonton are very wet and muddy. The signs of spring I have been waiting for.

Slumdog Millionaire

This is a must see movie. It's very well done. There's not too much more to say here. Watch it.

Wicked Wallpaper

I hooked my laptop up to the TV just now cause I'm going to watch a movie. Holy Smokes how blown away I was by the brilliance of the wallpaper. I mean the picture doesn't really do it too much justice but on my laptop it really does look gorgeous...but on the TV!!!! *thud* STUNNING...I could stare at it for hours! Instead I'm going to push play on Slumdog Millionaire.

Sunday Morning Snow

Not only am I up early on the weekend but I wake up to this. It's not the greatest picture because I really should have grabbed the tripod but it was way too early for any of that nonsense. I haven't even had my morning fix of java yet.

I am so done with the snow already. Please Ol' Man Winter...just get the hell out of here already!

Milk

Just finished watching it. I cried like a baby at the end...still not quite right here. Do I feel that most people will react the same as I? Probably not. For myself it was much more personal. So thank you Harvey Milk. I just wanted to say, thank you.

I think the next movie I plug in to watch should have adorably cute kittens or pink elephants in it. *sigh* Enough crying for me already!!!

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas

I watched this show last night and found it to be very good although I did feel a bit queasy afterwards. I think that's quite normal seeing as how the movie is based on The Holocaust through the eyes of a child. As like many, I know a bit on the subject but last night I was left with a nagging thought. We know from history that the Germans thought that the Jewish people were evil (among other reasons) and therefore needed to be exterminated. What I was pondering last night though...was where this belief came into play? If it was only one man...which I doubt...had this belief...how did that come to be? What had happened in their childhood or upbringing to make them believe such a thing?

This morning I looked up The Holocaust on Wiki. I read the entire document. I didn't realize that Homosexuals were also sent to the camps. Not for getting caught in the act but rather for intent or character. On that Wiki page it breaks it down and gives estimates on the total number of victims. I still get chills about the sheer amount. I don't think there is ever a way that anyone that didn't go through that can truly understand it...but we can try...in the hopes that the greatest tragedy on this planet doesn't repeat itself.

On a final note there are two things that I fear on this planet...at this time.

Twitter

So I am giving this Twitter a shot to see what all the fuss is about. It's always being talked about in the media lately so I finally gave in and signed up. Ok, so you can follow famous people and get into their minds a bit. I am currently following Ellen Degeneres and Alison Sudol the singer in one of my favorite groups, A Fine Frenzy. So far...I don't really get what all the fuss is about. I mean, I do update my Facebook status from my cell phone. Essentially, Twitter is just the profile status with nothing else. What can you tell the world in small chuncks? 140 characters or less no doubt. Time will tell if I lose interest or if I have just added another addiction to my collection of exploiting myself shamelessly to the world.

Do you Twitter? Follow me --> teddyontwit --> click on the link in my Twitter Updates on the right side of my blog.

There are rules and laws in Cube Land. You must obey or be punished severely. Stay within the lines fellow Cubians...it's very scary territory out there.

CSI Squeegy

I was looking through some old pictures tonight. I've always liked this closeup shot I got of Squeegy awhile back. I decided to see if I could actually see anything in the reflection of her eye. Yes indeed...there without too much problem, is me with the camera. I guess that's not really a big surprise with the amount of detail these things get nowadays. Take two minutes, a computer and volia...instant crime scene investigation! This is a good lesson people...never ever take pictures naked!!! Could be scary!

Adamo by Dell

This ultra slim laptop really reminds me of an Apple Laptop. I guess that's what they were going for. Dell just recently launched this new product but I am not liking the price tag one bit. Way too out of my league that's for sure! Is it pretty and sleek and nice??? Sure. Bottom line though...I can do the same thing with another laptop for a fraction of the price...albeit...a tad more heavy. :-P

Happy Green Beer Day!

It's St. Patrick's Day today. Are you wearing green? What a silly ritual really. I don't have anything GREEN to wear to work but I am wearing some olive coloured khaki’s. That'll have to do. Not that I had to...I don't think my co-workers will be pinching anyone or giving the bumps for those who are not wearing green. I think that only happens in Elementary School...or at least, that's what I remember of the day. It's funny though. Nothing was discussed at work about this day and a lot of us are wearing green or a variation of it. I find it interesting that most people do think about this day and its tradition. Could just be the green beer their anticipating though!!!

Here is my
last year's post on this day. Pretty cool indeed!

Blindness

I watched this movie yesterday with a friend. I didn't really know what to expect from the previews but overall it was fairly good and kept my interest. However, I was not impressed with how many questions I was left with by the end of the movie. And not just one or two...I was left with MANY questions!!! Too many to walk away with that satisfied feeling when you've watched a well done movie. Oh well, I won't spoil it for those of you who have been eyeing it on the video shelf at Blockbusters.

PS: I think if I lost my sight in a matter of moments without warning there would be a tad bit more panic in my reaction to it. Like about 1000x more than what we witnessed in the movie. Just an observation. *s*

Hanging Out

Got my laundry done this weekend.

Squeegy Flashback

I played with this photo quite awhile back on Facebook. I just love it. It makes my heart smile and right now I could use a good dose of that.

I remember the day I took this picture. I was in the bedroom and noticed her looking at me through the patio door. I let out a little laugh and instantly ran for the camera...thinking the whole way...she's never going to be there when I get back! Low and behold, she was. Click.

What a cutie this cat is. You have no idea. :-)

LG Dare Videos Take One

This is the first video I've taken with my cell phone.
Hard to believe I haven't played with this yet.

Black and White setting on the phone. Too many
settings to play around with tonight. Just wanted
to see how basic video's turned out on this thing.

Back inside to get a shot of Squeegy.
Not bad considering there were no lights on in the condo.
Check out Squeegy on YouTube to see the larger version.

Pretty crazy to get this kind of quality off a cell phone.

Niagara Falls

Another failed suicide attempt. No doubt there are many but going over the falls??? Nuts. If I were a bettin' gal, I would have lost big time. I've been to Niagara Falls. It's an amazing and quite awesome sight to walk up and see the amount of water pouring over. I am still shocked that people used to attempt surviving it in many home made contraptions. Of course, most of them did not survive. So how did this guy? *shrug*

It's also interesting to me that men, generally speaking go for more violent suicidal deaths. Most women down a bottle or two of various pills with a bottle or two of various wines. If a woman does for example, slit her wrists (more violent) many do it in the bathtub so there won't be a big mess to clean by others. There have been many studies on this and one thing is certain. Men are from Mars and women are from Venus.

Check out the Edmonton Journal for the story.

Red Red Whine

Red food colouring. It's in a lot of things we eat right? Did you ever think about how they make things red? Bugs. Crushed bugs. The Cochineal Beetle to be exact. Rejean had to share this little tidbit with me today at work. Why? I have no idea but he does like to go for that "shock value" but it didn't phase me at all. I'm ok with eating bugs. I could do Survivor. I get more squeamish when it comes to digesting nasty chemicals myself. Check out the Snopes website for the low down and nitty gritty.

Indeed, sometimes ignorance is bliss.

The Story of Stuff

Ever wonder what to do with 20 minutes of your life? I recommend watching this very well done video on...well...stuff. With the economy the way it is right now, it makes an interesting watch. I had a few a-ha moments. It's a must to check out!!!

Bizkit The Sleepwalking Dog!!!

For those of you that may have missed this one, it's a gooder. My dog Rusty used to move and twitch quite a bit in his sleep. He'd even wake himself up from his own farts!!! LMAO Nothing as extreme as this dog though. Wonder what's chasing him??? My guess? The Tax Man. :-P

Roll Up The Rim To Win

If you're a fan of Tim Horton's at all then you already know it's that time again. What I didn't know is that you can also enter online once a day without purchasing said coffee. Might as well try and better my chances. It says 1 in 9 chance of winning on the cups but I sure haven't had any luck the last few contests. Check it out.

It's Cold

I'm getting ready for work and the Edmonton temp. is -23c. Just last week we were hovering around 0. I hate this roller coaster ride...it's much too extreme and hard on my body.

Waiting not so patiently for Spring and the warmth of the sun on my face. *sigh*

Colourless?

Did you notice I changed things up on my blog a bit? Ya, some black n' white pics and changed the font colour. Was just playing around but I have felt a little more melancholy lately so I guess it suits my mood more. Don't worry though...it'll be the same senseless posts. :-P
