13 years, $124 million

Now that's what I call a jackpot!

Alex Ovechkin signed a $124 million, 13-year contract extension Thursday with the Washington Capitals. This is the first US$100 million deal in NHL history but not the longest. Rick Dipietro signed a 15 year deal with the New York Islanders.

Is it just me...or does it seem like our entertainers (movie stars, athletes) salary's have skyrocketed in the past decade while the general public's salaries grow at a snail's pace?

I need to go buy a 6/49 ticket.

  1. Ok so 124 million over 13 years..

    that is:
    9,538,461/year
    26,132.77/day
    1,088.87/hour (even when he's sleeping)
in his sleep every day he makes more than I make in a month.

if he were a normal worker at 40hours a week 52 weeks a year that would be
    4,585.79/hour

or if you look at it from the perspective of an 82 game season.
    116,322.70/game

    that's alot of $$$$$$$$.
