Pigeons Cause Chatter

I was sitting at my computer yesterday and all of a sudden I can here that all too familiar "machine gun" noise coming from Squeegy behind me. Cat chatter. Of course, I looked out on the deck as Squeegy was pinned to the window. A pigeon. Just flew in to check the deck out. Stayed for about 10 minutes and I'm sure it was just to torture my poor kitty. This is not the first time pigeons have made their way over for a visit. They come by often and it's always when the door is shut. I guess they don't chance it otherwise. Good thing too. Squeegy is not the most graceful cat. I'm sure she'd be overboard instantly. Yup...white splot many floors down.

Raptors preseason plans include Edmonton

Although I'm not a huge NBA fan I would love to see this pre-season game between the Toronto Raptors and the Denver Nuggets. I did go to the only other game that was here way back in 99' and thoroughly enjoyed it. The game is going to be on October 21 at Rexall Place. Hmm...I wonder if I can score some birthday tickets??? Dare to dream Arnold...dare to dream.

View From The Crib

Just some random shots from the deck the last few days.

Tranquility in Whiteness

I am so grateful for my cats. Squeegy came and sat with me and I just happened to have the camera handy. Go figure. It doesn't matter how I'm feeling...the moment she comes to cuddle with me I instantly feel my entire body and mind relax and give a big sigh. My hope is that I can make her life as happy as she makes mine. *s*

Smart Fit

This struck me funny last night as I was enjoying my view and keeping cool on the deck. This Smart Car apparently couldn't find a parking spot so they did the next best thing. I suppose they would get a ticket for this but really they shouldn't. It's ingenious and if more of us had smaller vehicles maybe there would be plenty of parking for everyone.

Poll Results!

Only seven votes this week. I was surprised though that many of you have already been to the park. I guess I was one of the few that was dragging my feet to go and experience it. Still glad I did though. I plan on getting there again sometime in the winter. Be on the look out for my new survey.

Have you been to West Edmonton Mall's Waterpark?

Yes, I had a blast!

Journey To The Center Of The Earth

I saw this movie last night but didn't realize before going that it was a 3d movie. If I had known I may not have gone to it. I get queasy with that kind of stuff. Sure enough I felt a little sea sick on the way out but it seemed to pass faster than usual. Even though this was a fairly cheesy kid based movie I actually enjoyed it just for the adventure. What can I say? It's the geek in me. One part of the movie where they were in mine carts racing down the tracks, looked very Indiana Jonesish to me but it also reminded me of a simulator ride I once went on/in...and yes...got sea sick. *s* If you're not interested in seeing a 3d movie than I would just recommend waiting for it on DVD. As always, I am left wanting MORE things popping out towards me as it is a very cool effect. This must be a very time consuming or expensive process for there not to be tons more. Oh well, I guess I will just have to enjoy "life" to get that 3d feel. :-P

My First Taste Of Dulse

So my co-worker Brian gave me some Dulse to try today as he's pretty big on it. It's seaweed from New Brunswick. It wasn't too bad actually. Quite salty but no sodium in it at all. Plumb full of vitamins and minerals make it a very healthy snack! If you ever get the chance...give it a go! It's really not that scary. *s*

Carcassonne

I finally got this board game. I played it awhile back and quite enjoyed it. Happened to see it at West Edmonton Mall on the weekend so I picked it up. It's not a mainstream board game but I do believe it's popularity is growing. It's a tile based game based on a medival landscape that is simple enough for a new player to catch on. A typical game takes about 45 minutes so you don't need to worry about pulling an all nighter with your friends! I can't wait to play it again!

New Facebook Look

So there is a new look in town over at Facebook. I don't know if I really like it but I'll give it a go I guess. It does give it a bit more up to date look and feel though. If you haven't already seen it...log into your account here.

Still haven't signed up for Facebook? Get ON it! :-P

Square is Expensive!

Ok, I saw this at Save on Foods tonight and of course, I immediately had to pull out my cell phone to take a picture. I couldn't believe it. I had seen this awhile back on the Internet but this is the first one I've seen in person. I only saw the one so I'm pretty sure it's more of a gimmick than anything. I just find it hard to believe that there's a 100 dollar price tag on it. I mean...we all know that if someone actually bought this thing they sure wouldn't be taking it to the picnic to be sliced and diced into bite size pieces. No, I suppose it would just end up being a very expensive center piece. Be on the lookout for the reinvention of the apple. Great for when you happen to drop it in a stairwell. *s*

Poll Question

After what seems like an eternity I have finally posted a new question. Take a sec and check it out on the right side of my blog. I'm curious to know who takes advantage of cheesy tourist attractions! :-)

Water Park

Today will be a milestone for me. Having lived in Alberta for 23 years and the last 7 of those here in Edmonton. I am finally and somewhat hesitantly going to West Edmonton Mall's Water Park today. Family is in from BC and Calgary and of course it's one of the attractions they want to experience. So here I go...on a summer Saturday no doubt. This should be interesting and crazy busy. Pray for me.

View From The Crib

Snapped these shots before work this morning. It's common to look out the window and see hot air balloons floating by but they sure got up early to get themselves up and running at that time. I would have preferred sleeping in myself. *s*

Miss Me?

No, I haven't died. It was close...but you're all stuck with me for a good while yet. *s*

Slurpee Nation!

Go to 7-11 today for your FREE SLURPEE!!! I'm not a huge slurpee fan myself but I couldn't resist letting everyone know about something that was FREE. Don't know what size it would be but I imagine it's not a "shooter" cup. Oh thank heaven for 7-11. *s*

Zune!

I LOVE my new Zune and I want the world to know it!!! Ok, maybe not the world. That's a little much, but how about a handful of peeps? Yesterday I watched my Global News podcast at lunch time. Talk about SWEET...what a geek I am. I also got to check out the wireless sharing with Tyler last night. He has an identical Zune and we were able to share music without much hassle at all. Of course, you can only listen to the songs 3 times or if 3 days pass the media will be deleted off your unit. Not too bad as it allows you enough time to check out a cd and see if you enjoy it enough to grab it yourself. *s* It doesn't let you share movies though but that's not a big deal really. I don't want to wait around THAT long to get one of those puppies! So ya, I am thoroughly enjoying my new toy. If you're on the fence for a new media player...I highly recommend this product!

Purse Candy

Ok, so it's been years since I actually CARRIED one of these things around. That doesn't mean there aren't those that do. My next door neighbor in cubicle land, Loren whom I also worked with at Dell gave me his wife's card this afternoon. She has a small business and I thought some good old fashioned advertising for an entrepreneur would do just fine in this case. *s*

Have a lookie Some very nice stuff in there if one were into that sort of thing...or had wives and girlfriends that were!!! I'll put a permanent link up as well.

Useless Information

A female ferret will die if it goes into heat and cannot find a mate.

WHAT???

I need to verify if this is actually true or not. This seems a little...um...EXTREME.

Zune 80GB

I got one of these today! I plugged it into my computer and it synced all my music and a few other folders I wanted while it charged. I found the Zune software to be pretty easy to use and even the online marketplace was easy because I just signed in with my Hotmail account and I was downloading free podcast's within minutes. I checked out the FM radio and it works excellent. Gave the name of the station and a blurb...some stations show what song is playing which is superb! I haven't setup my wireless stuff yet. Basically if you have a wireless network you can sync wirelessly and also share media with other Zune friends. I've only used up about 8 gigs of space so I have a long ways to go! First test was my workout tonight. I was pleasantly bopping on the elliptical. As a side note...the reviews on the ear buds that get packaged with this unit are EXCELLENT. The only thing is, ear buds don't work for me because my canals are too tiny for them to fit in. Doh!!! Red has already put them to good use though. *s*

Check it out!

Update on Appliances

Operation "Spend Alot of Money" was completed successfully today. Mission will finalize with delivery on Friday.

Fridges and Stoves and Dishwashers...Oh My!

Well the fridge died last week. *s* Tan and Suz were kind enough to lend us their bar fridge for the time being. Today...the search is on for new appliances. We're going to upgrade the whole lot instead of having things mismatched. Why does it always seem like you are just making some headway when SHAZAM...out of nowhere another expense comes in??? *shrug* So ya, today I will be dissecting extremely overpriced stainless steel stuff. Pray for me.

Technical Difficulties

Teddy is experiencing technical difficulties tonight.

It seems like I have only touched a computer for the first time in my life today. I was having all kinds of issues with my email...using applications in Facebook and now my Blog won't post correctly. I give up.

A Walk Before The Fireworks!

Just got back from an hour long walk around the river. There were tons of people out and about looking for their perfect spot to view the fireworks that happen around 11pm. I'm going to watch them at a friends place here in the building...but on the west side. Can't see them from our deck unfortunately. I snagged a picture of the waterfalls that run off the High Level bridge. They do that once a year and it looked pretty cool in person. The other picture is a police boat keeping an eye on things. There were alot of boats on the water as well. That would be a great seat to have!

Happy Canada Day!

Hope everyone has a GREAT day and you get to see some fireworks! Looks like it's going to be another scorcher here in the city. Keep cool. Peace out Peeps.
