The Kite Runner

This book was definitely a change in reading for me.  Mainly I've been reading sci-fi's and whatnot.  I was pleasantly surprised by this novel.  It kept me interested and it was an easy read.  I haven't seen the movie yet but am interested now...just to see how they adapted it to the screen.  If you're wondering what to read, I do recommend this one...no matter what genre you're usually into. :-P

Books give Bliss

Well I finished my book Next by Michael Crichton last week and went to pick out another one of his books at the library.  I had recently finished reading Michael's Pirate Latitudes before starting Next and felt like I was on a roll. While I did have Eaters of the Dead in my hands, I happen to come across a sequel to one of my favorite novels by Jeff Long called The Descent. At once, I put my previous choice back on the Shelf!  This one is called Deeper and although I'm not that far into it...I am thrilled to be back there and maybe...just perhaps...a wee bit scared.*s*

I ran through both lists and these are the only ones I have read...or at least that I can remember. How many have you read?

4 books out of two lists??? Hmm...I could probably scout out a decent book out of the Readers List. Time to crack open a new book and smell the pages...ya...that's what I do.

Now, if I could add what movies I saw in these lists there would be quite a few. *s* Guess that's a different website eh?

Michael Crichton

One of my favorite authors has passed away. I was quite sad when I learned this tonight. I have read many of his books and now I suppose I will try and read all of his work. Here are the ones I have read and I recommend you try one out if you haven't already.

The Tao of Pooh

I have read this book numerous times and I recently picked it up again. Here is an excerpt from the Forward that made me smile.

What's this you're writing? asked Pooh, climbing onto the writing table.
The Tao of Pooh I replied.
The HOW of Pooh? Asked Pooh, smudging one of the words I had just written.
The TAO of Pooh, I replied, poking his paw away with my pencil.
It seems more like the OW! Of Pooh, said Pooh, rubbing his paw.
Well, it's not, I replied huffily.
What's it about? Asked Pooh, leaning forward and smearing another word.
It's about how to stay happy and calm under all circumstances! I yelled.

Ender's Game

I finished reading this book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. If you were a fan of Dune I think you'll be a fan of Ender's Game. Actually, if you enjoy Sci-Fi's at all, you'll find it a good read. Good and Evil at it's best. Ying and Yang...you gotta have one for the other to exist. The survival of the human race solely resting upon the manipulative training of one young boy. Of course! Would you have thought any differently? When all is said and done, even our enemies can display compassion. After reading this book one must ask the question, "If we are truly to know ourselves completely do we also need to know our enemies completely"? And does knowing them completely mean we must love them? I say Yes. With a capitol WHY.

Ender's Game was written by Orson Scott Card.

Books

I bought two new books tonight. Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card and American Gods by Neil Gaiman. I can't wait to dive into them. I'll probably read Ender's Game first as this is the first novel by this author. I have read a few Neil Gaiman novels and completely love them. I'm sure American Gods will be no different. I'll let you know what I think of them when I'm finished.
