What you see!

Walking home on this beautiful day I saw the most bizarre thing. I was heading down the stairs by the hill I live by when I noticed a woman running up the stairs. Not a big deal...there are always fitness buffs working out in the area, especially on a beautiful day like this. This fitness buff however was a bit different. Not only was she running up the zillion stairs...she was doing doing a hula hoop at the same time...while holding two spare hula hoops over her head. I assume that she can get all three going but just watching her do it with one was tiring enough. I had to get outta there so missed all 3 going. So ya...what you see in da city!

PS: I totally suck at Hula Hooping. I can hardly pass the one on Wii Fit!!! lol

Weather

Apparently I didn't get the memo that there would be snow and crazy cold wind happening today. Downtown gets a little crazy with the wind like tunnel thing happening.

Anyway I am so done with winter already...want nothing but warmth and sunshine from tomorrow forward. Just so you know.

Happy Halloween

I’m walking to work down Jasper Ave. again this morning. Not looking for anything out of the ordinary but expecting to see something I guess…I mean it is Halloween. The last time I something unusual it was that camel. Today my head turned because I heard a weird whistling sound. It sounded very familiar but I couldn't’t quite place it…that was until I caught site of R2D2. It was an amazing full size replica and I so wish I had my camera. It was in front of the A-Channel building and they were filming it as I walked by. A lot of work went into its creation and I was totally impressed.

On another note: Today at work our entire floor dressed up as greasers from the 50’s. A few Pink Ladies but mainly everyone in rolled up jeans and a white t-shirt. It’s funny to see so many people participating. So Happy Halloween Everyone. Hope you get lots of tricks…or is that treats? *s*

Sobeys

Walked up to Sobeys Urban Fresh supermarket here on Jasper Ave. and 104th street. It just opened this last Thursday. At about half the size of a standard Sobeys this little market has it all...albeit at a price. I guess they have to pay for their award winning chef's that are on staff! You can get fresh seafood and even pick a live lobster that they'll steam for you while ya shop! There are all kinds of "ready to eat" options. I watched a couple of women making fresh pizza. They looked delicious and even with the ten dollar price tag I know I'll be taking one home at some point. Tonight we picked up an individual serving of pasta with regular Mediterranean sauce. All of their already made pasta is done by Sorrentino's. It was tasty but the bun I chose was not one of my favorites from the bakery. Some artisan hard as a rock biscuit. I'll know better next time. We also grabbed Red some salmon that she enjoyed with the pasta. All in all the market is very nice and has lots of options for just about everyone. Just don't go in there thinking you're going to stock up on things. It's too expensive for that. This is more of a market that you pop in daily to get fresh meat and produce to make that outstanding dinner for family and friends you've thrown together at the last minute! The location couldn't be better for Red and I. Just a nice 10 minute stroll in the downtown core. Even better when you can drag friends along with you. *s* Next time I'll be grabbing a java at their coffee bar too!

Welcome to the neighborhood Sobeys!
