Mentally Prepared or Mentally Unstable???

You be the judge.

Cell Phones or Diamonds?

I desperately need a new cell phone. Mine is pretty much toast. I was hoping to get a Blackberry Storm but the user reviews after it was launched by Telus have been mixed. And with the monthly plan being $40 more a month than I am paying right now...well...it certainly doesn't seem worth it or at all justified. I'm thinking about just settling with an LG Dare. I got a chance to play with one hands on and it seemed pretty decent. It is smaller than the Storm but it still has a touch screen and a great 3.2mp camera. Oh how I wish I wasn't still tied in a contract though. I would probably grab myself an iPhone.

Useless Information

Reality: the quality or state of being real.

Real: being an actual thing; having objective existence; not imaginary.

Delusional: Someone who is not thinking clearly, or thinks something will happen that, in all likelyhood, will not.

The long and winding road...this thing called life.

Let there be sound!

Regarding my last post. I got my sound working. Yahoo!!! Went to the windows update website and there buried in a bunch of "optional" updates was one for my sound card. Sweetness. Still no luck with Windows Live Messenger though. My quest continues!

Windows 7

I just installed Windows 7 Beta today on my old desktop computer here and it was extremely painless. I ended up installing it as a dual boot along with my Windows XP that I recently formatted as well. I'm going to try and be diligent and use Windows 7 exclusively though so I can get a good feel for the OS. The picture is my current desktop. It has gadgets like Vista but you can drag them anywhere which should have been the way it was in the first place.

Of course, because it's beta you will undoubtedly experience issues which I have already. My sound card is not supported so unfortunately I've got no sound. I'm not too concerned as I still have my laptop. It did however, install everything else with no issues. I didn't need my Dell drivers disk at all.

Windows 7 "looks" alot like Windows Vista but runs alot faster for me. My computer is only running 1gb of ram and it was very sluggish when I had a dual boot going with Vista the resource hound.

I installed and have ran the following applications with no issues to report.

AVG Free
Firefox and Foxmarks
Office 2007
Zune software
Windows Media Player 12.0
uTorrent

Windows Messenger Live worked when I installed it but after the first restart I got some error messages. Still trying to resolve that one.

So ya, that's it. I'll blog about what I like from time to time. For now, I will continue to give lots of feedback on the OS for this is the way that Microsoft can tweak it out before they release it for real. It's projected for release in early 2010.

PS: I didn't have to setup my home network. It found all the computers on it's own (without adding the workgroup) and I was able to access everything with no issues. Impressive.

Day 15

I think I am finally beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel...the end of my being ill that is. I am still feeling rough but not nearly as bad as I have been. The doctor's meds may have been the kick start I needed...or perhaps it was just finishing up on it's own. Either way I am ecstatic about being on the mend. A few more days and I should be my ol' grumpy self again. LOL Kidding, of course. *s*

Not-so-swift on the uptake

Regarding my earlier post about "Those Silly Gays". An article that was in The Edmonton Sun. My cousin actually emailed The Sun and got a response from the columnist Lyn Cockburn. He was told that her article was satirical and to read her next piece.

For your reading pleasure, here it is.

It does seem odd though...that the MAJORITY of people that read this took it at face value. Things that make you go Hmm...hmm???

Canada Wins!

Was there really any doubt? Perhaps not but the game was closer than the 5-1 final score shows. I was impressed by Edmonton Oiler prospect Jordan Eberle. Again, we always seem to have talented young men waiting in the wings. Now, if we can just get the Oil to show up with some umph for one whole game. What a disappointing season. *sigh*

Go Canada!

Working my last On Call shift tonight. It's been a long one due to my being sicker than a dog. I am looking forward to a peaceful night tomorrow. Got the Canada gold medal game against Sweden on. So far so good. 1-0 for Canada! Happy it's in HD also...that's always a bonus. It's hard to watch hockey on the regular channels now. Spoiled I guess. So ya, that's it.

Saturday in the Neighborhood

It's really cold outside. I'm On Call again and it's been fairly busy. Luckily I have NFL playoff football to watch and Nintendo Wii to keep me occupied. One needs things to keep busy when you are stuck indoors. Actually I don't think I would venture out too much this weekend even if I weren't On Call. Too phreakin' cold out to bother. I'm getting too old for this weather. My bones ache and I can't seem to get rid of the chills I get. *shrug* I need those hot pockets they used to have...only I need "hot bodies". *s*
